Awesome. I liked it while I was growing up and I bought the series DVD set a while back and binge-watched it. I remember that scene very well. This is part of the reason I watch older shows more than newer ones. I cannot and will not adapt to the new culture.
Interesting to watch these shows from the 80s. I remember that America and I miss it. Watching the old TV shows feels comforting, at least while I am immersed in the story! Unfortunately, reality quickly intrudes. Btw, I am reading Mania right now and having to force myself to do chores and required work! Look forward to your review.
So many of the TV shows in the past were about families. Two parents trying to be good parents, kids dealing with the travails of growing up but trying to find their way. And Cosby Show was one of the best at this. It was funny. It was positive. It was decent. I feel kind of sad at how little this kind of thing is presented today.
I remember watching the show many times but I was not a total addict. It was good, but not compelling. However what was compelling was Denise. Watching her made me almost feel like I had a libido.
Off subject of the Cosby show but two of my favorite family shows have been Little House on the Prairie (yes, the olden days but what a good show) and the cartoon King of the Hill.
What a great piece Holly! I grew up on the Cosby Show. I loved how the parents embraced each of their children and honoured their uniqueness instead of trying to get them to be like them-
Professional and affluent. Denise was my favourite because she did her own thing and I followed her in a Different World. I loved how wholesome the family was and uncompromising in their values. These shows don’t exist today - except for Bluey - and reflects the shift toward materialism and emptiness.

Should be able to finish writing it tomorrow and will publish either tomorrow night or first thing Sunday morning!

Delighted to hear that you've discovered this show, and your reflections on it brought tears of nostalgia to my eyes. Absolutely wonderful!

Oh, my girlfriend and I are now rewatching Everwood. I can’t call it a good show but it’s often unintentionally hilarious.
I miss the days when many television shows inspired us to be better people.
Holy freaking cow. You nailed it.
Thank you, and thanks for reading!
I learned so much from that show! We used to watch it as a family every Friday night.

Great piece.
