For the moment Twitter and Musk feel like the hero, but things can and do change. I am just surprised that so many people were messing with various messages. but hey it is control and power.
Yep. He may fuck up royally going forward, but I'll always appreciate his attention to dealing with the pictures and videos of children being sexually abused that Twitter 1.0 didn't give a damn about.
The avalanche of proof that our country, the world, is in the grasp of lying, scheming, murderous power hungry, sexually deviant, downright evil has my head spinning and my heart breaking. I'm not naive. I know that evil has always existed, but the acceleration over the past 6 years has thrust it into our knowledge base to the point of causing near psychosis. In front of everybody and the world, perverted behaviors that once would have caused the doers to be thrown in jail are encouraged and applauded. Children are not protected in the home, schools, medical industry, church, media...there will be hell to pay for this. I trust almost no one.
Agreed on all fronts, which is why something that would once have been baseline decency, like keeping pictures of children being sexually abused off Twitter, makes Musk into a near-hero.
Thank you for writing this column. I really appreciate how much emotional energy it took to write this. It gave me a deeper insight into the Twitter file saga and what it means.
The question that I keep coming back to in my mind is, why is the MSM not reporting about Twitter finally getting rid of the child sexual abuse material?!? Why weren’t they reporting on Twitter 1.0 letting it stay up on the platform?!? It takes a special kind of sick bastard to be a “journalist” that looks the other way at proof of children being abused and instead gets their hackles up over election satire. Sick. F*ing. Bastards.
They don't care. The mainstream media doesn't care in the slightest. I wish it was more complicated than that, but they don't care. Promoting their Woke religion is all they care about, and if they covered the CSAM on twitter they'd have to discuss the fact that children can't consent to sex. And they are very very eager to have children be made legally able to consent to things involving their genitals that are much more permanent than using their genitals for sex acts. I wish there was some deeper explanation than this, but there isn't. Covering CSAM involves having to discuss that children can't consent, which implies that children can't consent to other things--things they're highly committed to. That is, quite literally, all it is.
Holly, I hear someone say, after reading the Twitter files, "I need to get some new conspiracy theories. All these I had have come true.". Thank you, for covering this! I have gone from being wary that Musk would do it, and afraid he wouldnt...to relieved he has but concerned people wouldn't care. I'm still not sure that people actually understand and realize all that is true and horrid about it all...
Thank you for providing some tangible real-world reasons to care about what's currently happening on Twitter aside from the endlessly repeated, open-secret take of: "This proves the activist were/are lying snakes!"
I don't think Twitter will ever matter to me as much topically, but I can certainly relate to some of the background of why it matters so much to you.
Removing/banning such vile & abusive material/accounts from anywhere online is an automatic net good for everyone regardless of who's doing it or even why.
Mere possession of images of the sexual predation of children is a federal felony. Mens rea is not required. The custodians of those images at Twitter 1.0 should all face federal charges.
Years ago, the Episcopalian church where George and Barbara, and George and Laura, were married discovered that one of their lay workers was engaged in trading such images from his church-issued laptop (seems like he was an accountant, but I can't remember). The head priest contacted their attorney to find out what to do. The attorney, legally owing nothing to the state, and required by canon, to protect his client(s) destroyed the laptop.
What none of them knew was that this former employee was already being investigated by the FBI for this. Long story condensed way down, the FBI charged the church's attorney with possession of said images. I think he ended up pleading out. Harvey Silverglate, long-time defense and civil rights attorney, wrote about this story in his book "Three Felonies a Day."
As a former big city cop (Houston), I've long known that justice, at least at the federal level, is most certainly not blind. I am under no illusion that any of these people will be prosecuted. I investigated child abuse and runaway juveniles for about 2 years, and what is not going to happen in these regards over this utterly sickens me. Back in those days, there were 2 things which guaranteed that a suspect would be "arrested with enthusiasm," and one of them was abusing kids.
Thank you for all the child abusers you put away in the past, sir.
And yeah, Twitter 1.0 decision-makers should all be frogmarched. They won't be, though, just like the media won't cover it. This is the world we live in.
It is very difficult for me to comprehend the people who are (at least seemingly) incapable of even examining the possibility that the Twitter Files have revealed true things that matter. I get people who want to downplay it. It’s the one’s who can’t imagine that the people in charge/the left were the bad guys that baffle me. I understand it intellectually. I can see that it’s the case. I just can’t emotionally understand anyone that would be that incapable of self examination.
I mean, these *are* the same people who would talk about getting rid of Trump "By Any Means Necessary" and then get offended at the notion that they might have cheated in the election. Though I suppose that's still an intellectual explanation of it.
> Often children who manage to disclose, at least in part, that they are being abused are not believed. There are ways in which that can be as damaging as the abuse itself.
Being raped didn't fuck me up anywhere *near* as bad as my "friends" at the time gaslighting me about it hard enough that I **apologized to the woman who had done it, for damaging her reputation**.
"What else is a fortune for?" EXACTLY!!!!!!!!!!!
Pure electric cars are really, really dumb. Hybrid is the way to go.
What if we gaslit cars...?

Yes. If he accomplishes just that, he is a hero.

"why is the MSM not reporting it"? I believe it's because many of them are involved.

People can’t care if they don’t know, and they won’t know from the mainstream media. The odds of MSM reporting neutrally on Musk are near zero.
Yep...

The fact those going hysteric over Musk are often completely ignoring this is a huge red flag.
