I cannot begin to describe how frightening this is-for individuals and for society. To willfully ignore true threats to lives while giving credence to hyperbolic rhetoric is the stuff of what used to be fiction but is now reality. I live thousands of miles away but, Holly, please let me know how I can help. I would write letters but if they won’t listen to their own citizens....... I want to help. This is beyond terrifying.

Thanks for reading. Josh, Kevin, Christopher-Aaron, and the others who are doing front-line battle are actual heroes. I think legal expenses are inevitable at some point. If/when that happens I'll flog the crowdfunding links. That's all I can think of at the moment, but if I think of something else I will definitely write about it.

I'm happy to contribute financially if/when the time comes. These activist/terrorists count on people being too afraid to stand up for truth, justice and the American way. The courage to do so by Josh, Kevin, Christopher is commendable and absolutely necessary. The least we can do is support them.

I’m horrified. I really don’t know what else to say. I will help monetarily however I can.

What about reaching out to someone like Matt Walsh or Megan Kelly , talking heads with large platforms and sharing this with them?

Or people like the Alliance Defending Freedom or IJ or some of the other legal groups. It seems to me there could be legal issues relating to the first amendment here

Good Morning, thanks for the city council follow-up. do you believe that the stickering campaigns are helpful in changing opinion or bolstering/promoting the truth and reality of things? if so, does the person making the stickers have an online store (or is there another we could use).

Here in Calgary, the city enacted an "safe and inclusive access" bylaw:

The bylaw deals with “specific protests” that disapprove of ideas or actions related to “race, religious beliefs, colour, gender, gender identity, gender expression, physical disability, mental disability, age, ancestry, place of origin, marital status, source of income, family status or sexual orientation.”

It prohibits protests related to this list within 100 metres of the entrances of certain city-owned buildings, including all Calgary Public Library locations, and all city-owned or city-affiliated rec centres.

this was in response to people protesting the Drag queen story hour at publicly funded libraries.

thanks.

"What the mayor and City Council of Burlington did on March 13, 2023, is actual stochastic terrorism. This is demonstrated by the stark contrast between what they condemn and what they refuse to condemn—the contrast between the rhetoric they nod approvingly at, calling gay men “threats to public health,” and the rhetoric they condemn, statements of fact about biological reality."

If this is how they think the world works (ideas are violence), then they are flat out confessing what they intend to do when they have power. As Lindsay says, The Iron Law of Woke Projection Never Misses.

We have let the left define the terms of all debate for decades and this, like a mathematical law, is the certain, expected & unavoidable result.

•They redefine norms:

The norm is no longer one’s chromosomes. The norms no longer are provable. The norms no longer reflect natural law, but relativism. This was observed back in the 1970’s with the “sexual revolution.” People wondered then where the slippery slope of relativism would lead.

•They accuse their political opponents of that which they do. In my local newspaper in a sleepy town in NC (to which we moved to get away from the politically correct DC metro area), a recent letter to editor decried how people define “woke.” Now that people are starting to see the harm in wokeness, the left is aggressively trying to redefine it. The apparently liberal writer insisted that “woke” is an innocuous term of awareness. But I bet that same writer would NOT accept an equally innocuous definitive of “MAGA” from a conservative. A definition in which MAGA = simply making America great.

Folks we must:

•reclaim the language

•Don’t let people put you in boxes. I was surprised at how often one’s sexuality was referred to in Holly’s article, but I understand why that is done so often these days. But I see it as an apology to the left “Oh but Im gay so there’s that & my opinion means more.” Resist this- ALL are created equal & have equal standing to contribute.

It doesn’t or shouldn’t freaking matter what I do in bed… now lets just debate the PHILOSOPHICAL points.

Enjoy your articles, Holly.

No one was "created". No one is "equal".

A bell curve isn't a straight line and a normal distribution isn't flat.

Commies don't have standing; Fash don't have standing; Nazis don't have standing; Critical Theorists don't have standing; BLM don't have standing.

The Democratic Party better not be standing.

NONE of these people have ANYTHING AT ALL to contribute. You couldn't even manure the garden with them: they'd poison the plants! All I can think of is they might contribute in setting a bad example.

But that isn't exactly useful is it?

No: "equality" isn't something to aspire to; we are not ants, and neither are we bees. Egalitarian philosophies aren't applicable to Man; press them and the best result you can expect is poverty and miserable unhappiness for all. Your ant is indistinguishable from any other; if that were true of man you could swap Donald out for Joe and the political and social landscape would be unaltered.

Bees vote. Did you know that? What is very probably the best system of voting by proportional representation has evolved in bees. They can't think; lie; game; deceive; or ask 'What is in it for me; how do I benefit ahead of others; how do I beggar my neighbour and become a saint by it?' - so it works.

"Equality"? Try out for the Dodgers; see where thinking you are the equal of Babe Ruth gets you.

I call this the "Procrustean Fallacy". Procrustes in Hellenic myth tested folk to fit his bed: If they were too tall he'd chop them down till they fit; if too short he'd stretch them. Amazing folk the Hellenes: they put the finger on the flaw millenia before we devised the idiot idea of Equality; killed God; and set It as our idol: our Moloch to immolate ourselves to in in idiot idolatry.

Thank you for this important information Holly! I feel like the Zombie apocalypse is upon us!

What it really is, in my grand opinion, is UN Agenda 21 in action. The great Rosa Koire, a former dem, a Californian AND a lesbian, did the first important work on this. She died suddenly, just before they rolled out the scamdemic. She was telling way too much Truth. Find her videos talking to folks in New Hampshire on Youtube, Parts 1 - 5 and another, Parts 1 - 6. She wrote a book called Behind the Green Mask, on what is behind the "green agenda". If it is green at all, it is soylently green. :(

Sandi Adams, found in a series of interviews on UKColumn.org, has taken up the torch from Rosa, and is the current expert on UN Agenda 21.

Rosa mentions an organization called ICKLE, which local politicians and power brokers can secretly join. It is the stealth implementation of the Global Slave Plantation, done by our friends and neighbors, who get bought out, or compromised in some other way. Mayors have also signed international agreements, the latest being to implement the 15 minute cities, the stepping stone to smart cities.

Part of Agenda 21, is the terrorizing of dissenters. James Corbett did a recent article called The Weaponization of Psychiatry against us "crazy conspiracy theorists". The hardest thing to swallow, for those of the True Left, not the Fake Left, currently running roughshod over sanity, is that these are the people, whom we once aligned with. Gosh, my dear old dad was right.

Cultural Marxism, with its identity politics and evisceration of morality, deeply ensconced in the halls of academia, is the chosen tool for destruction of our society and our nation. We must continue to fight, continue to tell the truth. According to psychologist Matthias Desmond, an expert on Mass Hypnosis, or Mass Formation, if we allow ourselves to be silenced, the inmates will be left to run the asylum, and they WILL KILL US.

Humpty Dumpty smiled contemptuously. "Of course you don't---till I tell you. I meant 'there's a nice knock-down argument for you!'"

"But glory' doesn't mean 'a nice knock-down argument,'" Alice objected.

"When I use a word," Humpty Dumpty said, in rather a scornful tone, "it means just what I choose it to mean---neither more nor less."

"The question is," said Alice, "whether you can make words mean so many different things."

"The question is," said Humpty Dumpty, "Which is to be master---that's all."

This is exactly it. Words like "safety" and "violence" get redefined

Since there are only 2 ways to deal with people, persuasion or violence, and the means to persuade are being eroded via co-opted language, we're approaching a point where we only have 2 options, and one of them is submission.

I love my life. I have a great marriage, my kids are all grown and moving along in their careers. The two oldest ones are married and have kids of their own, the youngest is getting married next month and he and my future D-i-L are very devout Catholics (as opposed to very religious Catholics) and want to make lots of babies. I will be retired by the time I'm 57 or 58.

I'm a peaceful man because I choose to be, and all I really want is just to be left alone.

I really, really hope everything works out for your youngest as they're intending. I have friends (of both sexes) who are stay-at-home, homeschooling parents, but one of them is almost certainly going to have to go to work soon (other parent has a cancer diagnosis). Shit happens, but the ideal is for a stay at home parent to keep kids out of public schools. Fingers crossed that happens for your grandkids.

"I just want left alone" is nearly all I've ever wanted for as long as I can recall.

I get it, I have *weird* hobbies. But they make me happy and I've spent decades and hundreds of thousands of dollars pursuing them. Often ineffectually! But that is what it is, I've made my choices and I'll live with them.

But I don't insist anyone *else* participate in my cosplay.

Leave me alone and I will leave you alone. Fuck with me and I will break you.

(Generic "you" used here, obviously, no personal nor directed animus involved.)

Expand full comment

I have observed that the men who want to be left alone are precisely the ones you don't want to fuck around with. We have our fears, but death isn't one of them. There are millions of us who've lived with that threat daily in one form or another. It makes you not give 2 fucks about it, because you realize quickly it's going to come for you at some point, no matter what.

Expand full comment

There was a particularly unpleasant time in my life where I was actually seeking and working towards my own death, for months, and I'd gotten really close when my plans were uncovered. And even after that, I still intended to go forward, I just thought things had been delayed.

I can't recommend it as an experience, but it has been remarkably perspective changing. I have already *truly* made peace with the concept of my own mortality. It is not a concept that bothers me anymore.

Great writing, and terrific analysis. You hit the nail on the head! Thank you.

This stochastic terrorism that you call out is a feature, not a bug, of the “Critical Consciousness” that is “woke” (see James Lindsay).

Woke is a modern day religious movement, which grants its adherents the ability to magically see and measure oppressor/oppressed relationships everywhere. In this case, you and your friends are the oppressor (e.g. sinners), and the trans “community” is the oppressed.

In response, the woke “problematize” (e.g. deconstruct, tear down) humanity’s foundational structures, language, sciences, practices and laws, in order to somehow rebuild them. In this case, so that the woke sinners may be punished, the members of the City Council have institutionally abandoned their obligation to law and order and peaceful civil discourse and, like Pontius Pilate, yielded their authority to the mob.

Sooner or later reality (economic, biological, mathematical, social) will bear down and inexorably starve this particular religious tree of oxygen and life (although its Marxist roots will remain, to spawn new foul issue in the future). What is most dismaying to me is envisioning the amount of damage that will be wrought in the years, possibly decades, until that happens.

Thank you for writing this. It's still stunning that it's real, and it matters a lot to me that anyone at all cares. You can't count on the people around you to be anything close to morally normal anymore. Or even to notice that anything at all is wrong.

I think about "The Emperor's New Clothes" a lot these days--about the parts of the story that would have to be written if it were a modern tale. Someone might have to say to that little boy, "I know your friends bullied you and your parents beat you and other adults threatened you and many other terrible things happened because you told the truth, but you were still right. You did the right thing. The emperor is naked and you were right to say so."

It made any school program I couldn't self teach out of the book (or via practice, for more physical skills) difficult, too. I'm **very** ADD. With written text I can pause, have a few completely unrelated thoughts, and seek back to where I was pretty well. And reading, I'm less likely *to* do that.

Listening to people talk, well, it's often frustrating for both of us.
