That "men like Josh" parenthetical cracked me up. Hopefully the shortened version can be used in the future with a link back to your post. Part of the "Holly Substack canon."
Another excellent read, Holly, thank you. You broke up a boring afternoon for me. We all know a few people who really badly need to read your sensible thoughts.
If I spend too much time (like more than 2-3 minutes) contemplating the inner lives of these people I suffer emotional exhaustion. How can they keep this up all the time?!?
This is a thing I often have to deal with from people whose knowledge of me is half an inch deep:
"Isn't aviation an extremely misogynistic pursuit? There are practically no female pilots. It must be so unwelcoming. You must have become a pilot just because your boyfriend's a pilot. "
No. I met my boyfriend during the aviation journey I'd already embarked on. He was my second flight instructor. And aviation is one of the *least* sex-hostile worlds I've ever lived in. Male pilots don't resent females because we all know this is one of the last bastions of American life where there are no DEI shortcuts. We all pass the same exams, we are all held to the same standards, and we all shoulder the same risks and responsibilities every time we enter a cockpit as pilot in command. It is about as pure a meritocracy as can be.
We save our scorn for pilots who don't have tailwheel endorsements. 🤣
"We are so powerful that... A conflict that began during Bible times and continues today could end if a white woman would take a few seconds while scrolling on the toilet to simply post on Instagram, just once." Great funny take that brightened my morning, Holly!
Just as I’d been thinking this was ALL MY FAULT for not shedding any of my ‘white woman tears’ and sending my ‘thoughts and prayers’ to my ‘friend group’. Am I now on ‘the right side of history’?
I would love to see you as a guest of Darkhorse Podcast. It would be so much fun to hear you take the Woke community down using reality and common sense.
Never going to happen. Bret and Heather are two of my best friends so they know I'm both inarticulate (I write 10,000 times better than I speak) and camera-shy. The closest to that might be watching a livestream in a chair behind Zack when I visit them next spring. But they read my Substack and mention it occasionally. :-)
Indeed. Josh and I both have her blocked but she tried again blaming him for my internalized misogyny the other day (you get an email when someone goes off on you in a Note and tags you).

There is a major tendency among activists to assume that, as a Dilbert cartoon once put it, “all problems I don’t understand are easy to solve.”
With that mindset, it’s easy to presume that the right person making a social media post will solve just about anything.

Well, one can dream. Meanwhile, I’ll continue to enjoy your written articulations!
Oh lemme guess. Said woke white Substack notes lady is the exact person I’m thinking of?

Oh jeez. I've had her blocked for months too.
Did either of you know she has a, uh, record so to speak?
Quick update from that vile person:

I am really wanting to change my X handle to "blank lady brain!" So delicious and pairs well with internalized misogyny.
