You're definitely not crazy - you have to be willfully blind not to see it, nowadays. Identity is everything - except when it's inconvenient. And when people push back and refuse to support the craziness, they get canceled, accused of wishing people to die.

As for parallels, there are just too many. People react to ideologies in at least two ways that I can think of: (1) "this is what I believe, and that means that I must do these things to be a good person," and (2) "this is what I believe, and that makes me a good person - and everyone who disagrees is my enemy and must agree to support me, or be destroyed."

The latter includes certain religious ideologies, as well as today's political ones. You can ever find it among fans of particular cultural or technical activities. As you say, power is everything.

You are not unobservant. But the midwit ideology demands complete obedience. Where I live (NZ) adherence to a green Maori paganism is required for ANY corporate or government job. And no, you can't say it offends your religion or that triggers your PTSD.

The only way out is not to play.

Even nerds (myself) need to start businesses or get a trade because we will never get enough woke points to enter higher education.

I have no experience one way or the other, but am commenting just to express the hope that the radical action, or inaction, or whatever it may be, works. Be well.

You are most assuredly not crazy. I have been watching this pattern repeat numerous times as it migrates from one group to another over the years. You commented “The point was power. The point was forcing others to play along — not for kindness, but for control. To compel affirmation. To rewrite the rules of recognition itself.”

This is exactly correct and if we give into this insanity, the civilization we know will collapse.

You nailed it with the paragraph that starts with "And the loudest, most aggressive voices?" That's where the problem lies: too many wannabe activists, and not enough causes to be active about means you create one.

Take your rest; you've earned it.

Yes, I agree. The "tell" was the demand for expressed agreement and then the absolutist ex-communication for the slightest nuance in opinion.

Trust YOUR instincts. (You worked hard to get them)

You’ve seemed really bothered lately by the trans issue, but what I’ve seen is that institutions seem to be moving in the right direction on this issue. The cognitive dissonance is exhausting, but more people are waking up to the truth: trans acceptance is an example of pluralistic ignorance. Everyone’s afraid of being the only one who doesn’t believe any of it (or being THOUGHT not to believe it) but hardly anyone does.

Right on Holly.

If the mother will allow it, please tell me where the younger brother goes to school. There's an organization - SPEAK-VT - that's fighting this maddness in our schools.

Yes, I’ve seen this. I just haven’t been able to articulate it as well as you have here.

One thing I have thought is that it’s interesting that it’s women that are being attacked. In other words, there seems to be no question about what a man is only what a woman is.

Isn’t that interesting?

You’re one of the few sane people left. And you are spot on about this insanity being the new religion. It’s taking root all over the world. I sometimes wonder if there is a biological component, something similar to lemmings jumping off a cliff. As the population of humans passes the carrying capacity of the earth, a biological switch in the brain causes people to react in a way the stops reproduction. It’s a crazy theory, but not any more crazy than the people chopping off body parts.

Yes, Molly, you have retained your sanity. Take care of it because you need it, and we benefit from it. It hurts me that young children in need of boundaries and guidance are deprived of what they need as a foundation. There will be time enough as they grow to question and explore. How terrible it is to deprive them of some certain sense of stability when they are immature, and sadly, how convenient for predators.

I paid up so I could comment. I can't let this go.

"Gender Circle" is child abuse, criminal child abuse. The people who do that belong in prison. This is not natural. It is not based on science. It is a cult behavior, that should not be tolerated whatsoever. It is criminal predators destroying children's lives. And it must be stopped.

They are deliberately confusing children, to get them in this psychological/medical pipeline, which is incredibly well-funded and only goes one way. The whistleblowers have been cancelled. This whole scene is absolutely obscene. There are books on this. Check out Abigail Shrier's Irreversible Damage or perhaps her Bad Therapy.

This gender confusion is entirely a social contagion. Previously I had seen it picked up on social media in middle school, but drummed into their heads in kindergarten is disgusting and vile.

History will view this period as one of the lowest points in the history of the human race. Ideologically blinded zealots set up over 100 medical chop shops in the USA to mutilate the bodies of children who would otherwise likely grow up to be gay. Obama said all insurance must cover all gender treatments, which opened the blank checks to finance an entire cottage industry. And here we are.

Shellenberger at Public Did an expose of the WPATH emails. They are the leading "International Body" to set the policy, which many countries have followed. Their leaked internal emails show they knew they had no scientific justification and that they were making it all up as they went along.

This is not science. This should be the biggest scandal in decades, that must be shut down. No child should be exposed to these predatory perverts.
