What’s In This Essay & Teaser for the Next Essay
I’m still reading (and absolutely loving) The Ideological Origins of the American Revolution, by Bernard Bailyn. It’s incredibly rich and interesting, but not a fast read, so I’m going to continue with a close reading of the Constitution until I’m ready to write about that book and what I’ve learned from it. This one covers Article I, Sections 4-7.
Article I, Sections 8 through 10, lay out principles of relationships between the states and the federal government, and the states and each other, that has great relevance to what’s happening today. I will try to get that out Monday or Tuesday.

These sections made me laugh out loud repeatedly, and that really, really surprised me. I’m going to put the hints as to what I find funny in bold, and I’m going to be dying of curiosity as to whether any of you see the humor, too.
